South Korean electronics giant Samsung’s local arm, PT Samsung Electronics Indonesia (SEIN) aims to be the pioneer in 3-D TV sales in the Indonesian market, as global manufacturers hope to begin the era of 3-D viewing in the living room.
SEIN managing director Kim Yoo-young told reporters in a launching event in Jakarta on Friday that the company was aiming to open a new market for 3-D TV in Indonesia.
The company claims to be the first to sell full HD 3-D LED TV in Southeast Asia, and also globally.
Kim said that being the first to sell 3-D TV, Samsung, the world's largest maker of TVs, hope that there would be more “demand than targeted.”
The 3-D TV sets was first unveiled in New York, U.S. in early March, where for $3,000, buyers get a 46-inch set, two pairs of glasses and a 3-D Blu-ray player.
Panasonic had also launched its 3-D TV sets in March, while Sony is planning for June.
